FROM SISTER CHRISTINA

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.

I grew up in the small town of Oley, PA which is located near Reading, PA.  I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and began my teaching career at Upper Adams School District in another small town called Biglerville, PA which is about 8 miles north of Gettysburg.  I enjoyed teaching middle school and high school math at Upper Adams School District for three years.  While teaching, I also received a Master's Degree in Instructional Media through Wilkes University.

During that time, I discerned a call to religious life with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Immaculata, PA.  As I met these wonderful sisters and got to know the community, I felt that this was exactly where God wanted me to be.  I entered the IHMs on September 8, 2012 and spent three years at our Motherhouse in Formation.  As a novice with the IHMs, I had the wonderful opportunity to come here to Somerville and experience the Immaculate Conception community.  On August 10, 2015, I made First Profession of the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience.  It was an absolutely joyous day!

Following my profession, I spent three wonderful years teaching seventh grade math, science, and religion at Immaculate Conception School (ICS) in Somerville, NJ.  While teaching at ICS, I was also the Student Council moderator, Running Club coach, and assisted with our folk group.  I also played violin and sang with our choir at the parish.  I really enjoyed my time there.  I spent the past year as a sixth grade math and science teacher at St. Cecilia School.  While there, I also played violin for School Masses and really enjoyed my time living in Philadelphia!  I look forward to having many more wonderful experiences here at Shanahan!

May God bless you all,
